Fenton Chess Club 2007 AGM Minutes.

These being present on 21/05/07; -

Peter Tideswell, Stuart Hull, Carl Mustafa, John Amison, Mark Whitby, Geoff Yates, Ben Zitha, Robert West, John Wunderle,

Meeting started at: -7.48.

(1) Apologies : -Andy Stott, Steve Emmerton and Tony Holdford.

(2) Minutes from last years AGM read and accepted.

(3) 2007 Secretary/Treasuer's report given to each member and accepted.

(4) Awards presented as follows.

Player of the year:- Mark Whitby.
At the start of the season Fenton decided to award medals for those players finishing top scorer in each team, awards are as follows-
Gold. (A team) = John Amison with 5½ points.
Silver. (B team)= Geoff Yates with 5½ points
Bronze. (C team)= Carl Mustafa with 9½ points
Bronze. (D team)= Mark Whitby with 6 points
Rapidplay. = Geoff Yates with 9½ points so far.

(5) Venue:- It was announced that the smoking ban due to start July 1st could interfere with chess play because the smoking area (the beergarden) can only be reached via the room we use and it was decided that we should change our venue to the Poole Dole Inn, Fenpark Rd, Fenton for a trial period which will hopefully become permanent, the only negative point is the doors dont open until 7.30pm.

(6) Nomination of team entries for next season.

We decided to stick to the same format with 4 teams, A, B, C, D and a Rapidplay team plus enter the following Cup Competitions-
U90 Cup.
U110 Cup.
U135 Cup.
8 Board Cup.
Withnall Cup.
Jackson Cup.

(7) Summer Tournaments.

The Club will run a 5 game Swiss tournament and a Knock out Cup Competition throughout the summer.

(8) Club Fees 2007/08.

(a) Fees for next season will be £15 (Employed) and £10 (Unemployed, juniors, students and retired)
(b) New roles are created to run alongside that of Secretary and Treasure, we agreed to add the roles of Chairman and changed the title of Webmaster to Publicity Officer.

(9) Election of officials.

Chairman:- Peter Tideswell.

Secretary:- Mark Whitby.

Treasurer:- John Wunderle.

Publicity Officer:- John Amison.

League and Team Captains.

A team:- John Amison.

B team:- Stuart Hull.

C team:- Carl Mustafa.

D team:- Mark Whitby.

Rapidplay:- ????.

8 board, 135 Cup and Jackson Cup:- John Amison.

U110 Cup and Withnall:- Stuart Hull.

U90 Cup:- Mark Whitby.

(10) Any Other Business.

(a) Geoff will arrange a date for Fenton members to help Coach the Junior Chess players of Bishop Stamer CofE Aided Primary School Boothen Old Road, Stoke.
(b) The Treasurer will look into the club having a Bank account and report back.
(c) Geoff praised Peter Tideswell for the many years of excellent work as Secretary/Treasurer.
