The club was originally named the
Angel Inn (1994-2002) after its venue, then it changed venue and
name to Foley Chess Club (2002-2004) In 2004 the club was on the
move again, this time to the New Penny pub, with a change of name
to Fenton Chess club to reflect the club's geographical area.

One of the clubs proudest moments was being
awarded the Staffordshire Chess Association Club of the Year
Award for 2006, it was said at the meeting "Fenton were nominated
because they are a growing and popular club, where you will
always receive a warm welcome" Previous winners are-
2006 Fenton.

The Trophy on the left was awarded in 2004 for
winning the 2003/04 Division 3 This was the first silverware in the
clubs short history, we finished top of the league with just a
point more than second placed Kidsgrove B. |
