Welcome to the homepage of Fenton Chess Club. Formerly known as Foley Chess Club. This site has been set up to provide information to anyone interested in the activities of Fenton Chess Club. The club meets every Monday (From 23rd August we will be meeting on a Wednesday) at Fenton Sports & Social Club, Victoria Place, Fenton, Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire ST4 2LX from 7 30-10 30pm. 26/07/10. No Walk In The Park For Karl!
The final round of the Internal Club Championship, took place tonight, Karl Walklate on 5 points from a possible 6 won the tournament outright with Tony Holdford, John Amison and Steve Emmerton finishing equal second on 4 points, Steve Emmerton also won a prize for the highest placed player graded 110 or lower, Steve should also win something for the biggest gaffe of the tournament after capturing his own queen, luckily Stuart was honest enough to point out his blunder.
25/07/10. Provisional grades for 2010!
The 2010 grades for Fenton can be viewed at-http://grading.bcfservices.org.uk, Corrections are still possible and a revised list will appear at the end of August.
20/07/10. All Change At Fenton!
Fenton have decided to continue in the same divisions as last year – ie : Div 2/3/4/ and 5 – rather than dropping our teams down a division and having 2 teams in Div 5. We are also changing our club night. As from 23rd August we will be meeting on a Wednesday instead of a Monday. This is to enable us to use the main hall instead of the front bar.
19/07/10. Old Nag Sneaks Up The Inside!
Round 5 results for the Internal Club Championship, have been added, Geoff canters into third after both Tony and Karl could only draw their games giving Geoff a chance of victory in the final round, 2 players took a half point bye, the draw for the final round will be added Thursday 22nd.

Peter Tideswell has taken over the role of Club Chairman from Steve Emmerton.
14/07/10. Rapid Coalition Scores Half a Point!
Due to a lack of available players Fenton entered only the open section of the Rapidplay Jamboree played at Newcastle Chess Club last night, the team also included Dave Johnson of Kidsgrove Chess Club, Peter Tideswell stopped a complete whitewash with an excellent draw against Alan Thomason of Alsager Chess Club. 12/07/10. Looking like a two horse race!
Round 4 results for the Internal Club Championship, have been added, 1 player took a half point bye, the draw for round 4 will be added Thursday 15th.

   About Us.
2004 Inhouse Tournament The club is open all year round with several inhouse tournaments and friendly matches against local clubs during the closed season. The club is a member of the North Staffs and District Chess Association. Directions can be found on the Find Us  page. We have excellent seating and tables and light refreshments are available. The club is competitive and has a friendly atmosphere anyone interested will always be welcome .
